Descaling in Bath

Tartar build-up is the most common thing we spot on the table. Descaling lifts it away by hand, awake and unsedated, with plenty of breaks and no restraint.

What's included

  • Full mouth and gum check before we begin
  • Hand scaling to lift tartar from the tooth surface
  • Polish to slow new plaque forming
  • Breath-freshening rinse and a final gum check
  • Honest referral to your vet if anything needs veterinary care

Best suited to

Adult dogs with visible tartar or strong breath, small breeds prone to dental build-up, and dogs whose owners want to avoid anaesthetic where possible.

Descaling — common questions

Is descaling done under anaesthetic?

No. This is an awake, non-anaesthetic descale done by hand. If your dog is uncomfortable at any point we stop, and anything below the gumline is a job for your vet.

Is it a replacement for veterinary dental work?

It is not. Descaling is cosmetic and preventative — it removes visible tartar above the gumline. Loose teeth, gum disease or pain always need a vet.

How often should my dog be descaled?

Every six to twelve months for most dogs, alongside brushing at home. Small breeds with crowded teeth often benefit from a six-month rhythm.

How much does dog descaling cost in Bath?

From £45, or £35 when added to a full groom on the same visit.
